Hi, I’m Tom Zahrádka and this is my digital notebook.
A place for works in progress.
Products. Prototypes. Notes.
Systems I explore and build.
The hardest part is rarely making the thing — it’s deciding what it should be. There are usually ten ideas and even more paths. The useful work is picking one, salvaging the fragments from the rest that hold together with it, and letting the others lie.
I run things end to end: paper and pencil, 3D printing, plaster, concrete, textile, code. The tools I make already exist elsewhere — as software that does a hundred other things and costs a fortune. Mine do one thing, run in the browser and cost nothing. I build them to find out how the thing actually works.
Most of it starts as a game: take something apart, then see how much can be removed before it stops working.
